2010 National Limousin Show & Sale

 

The National Limousin events were held at Farmfair the second week of November, and were very successful. The stands were full of Limousin enthusiasts as the Champions were slapped!

Congratulations to all exhibitors who made the show a success and to the exhibitors who walked away with the Champion titles.

The show was a great success with 90 head of cattle in the show and 14 exhibitors representing British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Judge Garth Rancier sorted thru the cattle with Ivy Livestock and Payne Livestock coming to the top of the female and bull divisions respectively.

Payne Livestock had a very strong showing taking home the titles of Premier Breeder and Exhibitor.

2010 Commercial Breeders of the Year

In 2010 the ALA honored two commercial cattle operations with the title of 2010 Alberta Limousin Commercial Breeder of the Year. Congratulations to Abt Cattle Company Ltd. from Ponoka and James Farms Ltd. from Edgerton for receiving this title. Both operations have been using Limousin bulls on their commercial cows for numerous years and the ALA values their support and promotion of the Limousin breed.

 

DC Farms named 2010 Purebred Breeder of the Year

 

DC Farms, the Johnson family from Barrhead was named the 2010 Alberta Purebred Breeder of the Year at the AGM. Doug, Carolyn, Darren, Connie & Carriann have been involved in the Limousin breed for 26 years being active members of the ALA. Doug served six years on the board and Carriann represented the breed as the Queen & Princess for three years and now serves on the board herself. DC Farms regularly attends Farmfair with a string of cattle and are great supporters of all Limousin events throughout the year. Congratulations to the Johnson family.
